| The Westin Annapolis is located in the historical district of Annapolis, Maryland. Founded in 1649, the city of Annapolis is the capital of the State of Maryland and is the home to the United States Naval Academy (founded in 1845) and St. John's College (founded in 1696). Annapolis is a delightful combination of history and zest for living ... walk along cobblestoned streets, visit historical buildings - the finest 17th to 19th century buildings in the country, and stroll the famed waterfront. Annapolis is beautifully situated on the Chesapeake Harbor and is considered America's Sailing Capital. There are many small shops, restaurants and water activities. Take a sightseeing cruise, a Pirate cruise or a walking tour with guides dressed in period costumes. Besides maritime history, Annapolis is steeped in the charm of Colonial America and is rich in African-American history and culture.
The Westin Hotel has only 225 rooms and was built in 2007. Due to historical preservation laws, the building has only six stories. Rooms are all well appointed with 10 layer heavenly beds, hi speed internet, 32" flat screen TV's, complimentary Starbucks coffee. The hotel |

Please note....on June 30th, the entering midshipmen (Plebes) to the US Naval Academy begin their life at Annapolis. Families and future naval cadets will be coming before and during that time period to stay in Annapolis in preparation for this event. Therefore, many of the hotels in the immediate vicinity of the Naval Academy will be very, very full. This is another good reason to register early!
There is much to see and do in the area for families! Close to Annapolis is Washington, DC (about 45 minutes away) and Baltimore, MD (about 30 minutes away). Also, Annapolis is located on the DelMarVa peninsula, an area noted for its beaches, state parks, water sports and the famous Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel.
The closest airport is Baltimore Washington Airport (BWI) - 17 miles away and about a 25 minute drive. Most major carriers service BWI. Air fares are very competitive into BWI because it is a hub for value priced airlines such as jetBlue, Southwest and Air Tran. Shuttle / van service to and from the airport is also very reasonable.
You can reach Annapolis easily by AMTRAK (BWI Airport stop), and by car over major interstate highways. From the New York Metropolitan area, it only takes about 3 to 4 hours driving time.
DMC looks forward to seeing you in Annapolis! |
